Whitespace is the portion of a page left unmarked. It allows the objects in it to exist. Without it, clutter takes over the page. Just as things on paper need whitespace, we need spiritual whitespace.
Spiritual whitespace is slowing down to enjoy time with God, feed your soul, breathe, and rejuvenate.
It is the theme of this retreat because we're giving ourselves permission to eat, pray and love - to make room for you, for God, for rest.
Planning, running and participating in the first youth retreat this ministry has seen has been pressuring to say the least. But it has been one of the most rewarding camp/retreats I've ever been a part of. I'm just going to talk about the happy stuff because the not-so-happy stuff are in the process of being resolved. On day 2 of WHITESPACE, we played a running man inspired game that consisted of 4 stations - whitespace, eat, pray and love. I was the station master in charge of whitespace. It was a photo challenge where each group had to take photos of holi powder in motion. No one could leave the station without their white retreat shirts getting dirty.
It was to remind us that oftentimes, we get so busy moving around, getting things done, leaving a mark and all that our spiritual whitespace gets too cluttered to eat, pray and love. And just as the stains are (probably) very difficult to remove, it takes time and effort on our part to create our spiritual whitespace. But it'll be worth it in the end. We get out white tee shirts and space to grow and rest again.
So here are the photos SOOC (straight out of camera).
